A little History of Borough Park Boro Park, New York: After the story that shook the Jewish community of Boro Park and the world of Jewish news sites, the story turned out to be not entirely true, and was blown out of porportion. Here is an account VidYid has got from the one who started the whole commotion, from H.G. (he wishes not to be identified for obvious reasons): “I was eating with a couple of friends when Landau (Veretzky) [VidYid Editor's Note: It happened with Rav Landau, the Veretzky Ruv, his wife just had a baby, and he came to buy supper] he came in and ordered a Frankfurter. When the Frank looked a little strange, he asked to see the package, he was shocked when he saw a Club 5 label on the package with out a Hechsher. We [the Bocherim] wanted some action, so we started snapping pictures and taking videos with our cells while texting more of our friends to come over.” VidYid Editor's Note: This is when VidYid reported the story as we received a text message also. The text message was meant to sound extreme so alot of people come: “When more guys arrived and the arguments became heated up, the manager pulled a knife (he probably felt somewhat threatened by us). That is when the real action started prompting bystanders to call Shomrim and Police. They arrived and finally they sent everyone out and the Mashgichim took over the place.” H.G. acknowledged that he did wrong calling over friends instead of the Rabbonim. He stated that in such a case [where he would have called the Rabbonim] nothing would have happened. When asked if he would eat there again, he replied, “Sure, everyone there was able to see that this was not the normal thing and there was some kind of misunderstanding.” He apologized to anyone that might of gotten hurt in anyway from his inappropriate actions, and says a lesson can be taken from this story that we always have to look out for certain problems that can happen and not just blindly trust Hashgachos, yet we have to do what is right. |
